Doula Services

` As your doula, I will be available for any physical (non-medical), emotional and informational support needed for you and your partner throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
I will meet personally with you and your partner at least once before labor onset to assist in the creation of a birth vision, through discussion of your wishes, priorities and concerns. It is YOUR birth and I want to know how I can best serve your individual needs (and those of your partner) in labor and birth. My role is to provide individualized, compassionate care during this amazing journey in your life. Every woman is different and I will try to attune to your needs – whether it be holding a hand, changing a body position, engaging in breathing exercises together, using sound, massage, cold cloth, bath/shower and other techniques to best serve you. My role is to support, nourish, educate and help you to achieve the most satisfying birthing experience you can have.
I will be at your side during labor and delivery, and remain with you for 1-2 hours after the birth, until you are comfortable and ready for quiet time with your new family.

About Doulas
The role of the doula is to help a woman achieve the best possible birth experience.
A birth doula is a woman trained in birth related issues. She understands the medical terminology, and the common medical procedures involved with birth. Doulas have training, knowledge and experience needed to support the woman and her family in pregnancy, labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.
A doula will provide continuous emotional, physical and informational support, and guidance, as well as be the woman’s advocate in a hospital setting.
Many studies have shown that by utilizing a doula, women can reduce the need for a variety of medical interventions. They have a decreased risk of cesarean sections, have fewer instrumental deliveries, less augmentation and other intervention in labor, fewer perineal tears and episiotomies, reduction in the length of labor, need fewer pain relieving drugs, and they overall report a more satisfying, positive birth experience.
